Job Summary
The Federal Waterways and Shipping Administration is seeking a Certified Technician to join the South Mechanical Engineering Department in Nuremberg. This role is crucial for maintaining and developing the technical operational network of federal waterways, specifically focusing on electrical, communication, and mechanical engineering aspects of infrastructure along the Main, Main-Danube Canal, and Danube rivers. Day-to-day, you will independently plan and execute procurement processes for plant technology, develop and implement IT security concepts for computer systems, and conduct system analyses. The ideal candidate will have a background in Electrical Engineering (focus on Power Engineering & Process Automation, Information & Communication Technology, or Automation Technology) or Computer Science (focus on Plant Technology). This position offers the opportunity to actively shape the future of Germany's vital waterways infrastructure within a large federal network, combining technical expertise with environmental and economic considerations.
Required Skills
Education
Successfully completed training as a state-certified technician in Electrical Engineering (specialization in Power Engineering and Process Automation, Information and Communication Technology, or Automation Technology) or Computer Science (specialization in Plant Technology or similar).
Experience
- Several years of professional experience
- References for independent execution of technical projects
- Professional experience in electrical engineering
- Professional experience with common PC hardware and software and Windows/Linux operating systems
- Experience in procurement (VgV, UVgO)

- The position is for 38.5 hours per week, with 19.5 hours being permanent and an additional 19 hours initially limited to 4 years. Willingness and ability to drive an official vehicle and undertake business trips, primarily within the Main, Main-Danube Canal, and Danube areas. Location is 90402 Nuremberg. German Bronze Swimming Badge required (as part of application documents). For foreign educational qualifications, proof of equivalence with a German degree is required.
