Job Summary

This is an exciting opportunity for an IT Administrator focusing on database specialization and network infrastructure within the Federal Highway Research Institute (BASt), a forward-thinking research institution focused on roads, traffic, and the environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical administration of internal and external networks, including monitoring, installation, and configuration of active network components. Key day-to-day tasks involve managing central Windows and Linux systems, maintaining the firewall system, and conducting risk analyses of network system behavior to inform optimization measures. The role requires a degree in IT or a related field and strong knowledge of network topologies, security protocols, and diverse operating systems. Experience with various database systems (Oracle, MS SQL, PostGres) and high-availability cluster deployment is highly desirable, making this a specialized and impactful role in public sector IT.

Education

University of Applied Sciences Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Administrative Informatics, Business Informatics, Business Administration, or comparable IT-related fields

Experience
