Job Summary

The Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) is seeking an Electrical Engineer to join the Marine Physics and Climate division in Hamburg. This is a fixed-term contract until June 30, 2028, tied to the 'final Rave' project. The role involves the modification, adaptation, and integration of system components for autonomous oceanographic measuring stations, including offshore facilities like the FINO platforms and MARNET buoys. Day-to-day tasks include performing configuration and programming work on data management systems, conducting quality control of measurements, and executing necessary sea voyages and helicopter deployments for maintenance and repair operations. Ideal candidates must hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Marine Technology, or a relevant physical discipline, possess knowledge of measurement technology and applied programming, and be fit for deployment on research vessels.

Completed technical university degree (Bachelor, FH Diploma, or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering, Marine Technology, Environmental Technology, or a relevant physical discipline.

Experience

  • Professional experience in modifying and adapting system components for autonomous oceanographic measuring stations
