Job Summary
This role involves leading and executing critical research within the BMBF-funded "Potatoes for Tomorrow (POMORROW)" project, focusing on potato genetic resources and breeding techniques. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting and evaluating GBS analyses of potato germplasm, developing core collections and pangenomes, and organizing the propagation of in-vitro potato plantlets for project partners. A key part of the role includes overseeing and analyzing hydroponic experiments to assess nutrient efficiency in potato genotypes. This position offers the opportunity to publish significant research findings in scientific journals and contribute to cutting-edge plant genetic resource utilization, working within a dedicated team at a renowned research institution.
Required Skills
Education
PhD in Agricultural Sciences, Biology, or related fields
Experience
- Professional experience in GBS-supported diversity studies, taxonomic analysis, and development of core collections and pangenomes of crop plants, preferably potatoes
- Several years of experience in conducting and organizing third-party funded projects
- Experience in scientific publication
Languages
Additional
- Foreign degrees require a fee-based equivalency assessment in Germany, to be presented upon employment. The position is a full-time, fixed-term contract for 40 months, starting November 1, 2025.
