Job Summary

This role offers an exciting opportunity for a Technical Assistant to join the Personalized Medical Oncology department at the DKFZ-Hector Cancer Institute in Heidelberg. The successful candidate will be instrumental in advancing cancer research by conducting and assisting with mouse experiments, managing transgenic mouse lines, and performing various cell culture techniques including organoids and primary cell cultivation. Key responsibilities also involve applying molecular biology and protein biochemistry methods such as PCR, FACS, Western Blot, and ELISA, as well as histological procedures. The position requires strong organizational skills for laboratory management, including safety training, material procurement, and training new staff. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, engaged, and flexible professional eager to contribute to cutting-edge cancer research in a dynamic, multinational team environment.

Required Skills

Education

Completed training as a Medical, Chemical, or Biological Technical Assistant or comparable knowledge and skills

Experience

  • Experience in assisting with animal experiments (mice)
  • Experience in managing transgenic mouse lines
  • Experience with histological and molecular biological methods
  • Experience with cell culture
  • Experience in performing Western Blot, Real-time qPCR, FACS, PCR (advantageous)
