Job Summary

The German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) is seeking a Scientific Executive Assistant to serve as the right hand to the Scientific Executive Board. This key role involves acting as the primary interface between various scientific and administrative departments internally, and external collaboration partners in the life sciences research landscape. Day-to-day responsibilities include supporting the Scientific Executive Board with strategic and operational tasks, managing correspondence, conducting independent research, and preparing complex decision papers, reports, and presentations for board meetings. The ideal candidate must hold a university degree in Medicine or Natural Sciences (a PhD is advantageous), possess excellent German and English proficiency, and demonstrate strong organizational skills, initiative, and the ability to quickly grasp complex scientific and clinical topics. This position offers unique insights into high-level research management and strategic decision-making within one of Europe's largest cancer research centers.

Required Skills

Education

University degree in Medicine or Natural Sciences (Master's level or equivalent); PhD is advantageous

Experience

  • University degree (Medicine or Natural Sciences) with above-average success
  • Demonstrated experience in the written and visual presentation of complex content and contexts
  • Experience in both basic scientific and medical-clinical fields (desirable, but not mandatory)
  • Ability to quickly familiarize oneself with complex subject areas
