Job Summary

This PhD position focuses on developing advanced statistical genomics tools to understand the genetic makeup of important crop traits, specifically focusing on Winter-wheat. The successful candidate will work with elite × crop wild relative crosses to create pre-breeding material, analyze experimental field data from breeding populations, and process genotypic data to identify marker-trait relationships. A key aspect of the role involves curating data according to FAIR principles and integrating it with existing datasets. This role is ideal for a highly motivated individual with a strong scientific curiosity, looking to contribute to cutting-edge research in a world-class, English-focused research environment.

Required Skills

Education

MSc in Plant Science, Plant Breeding, Biology, or a related quantitative field with a focus on biology

Experience

  • Hands-on experience in crop genomics and managing genotyping data
  • First experience with biostatistics methods, e.g., with mixed-models
  • Familiarity with data analysis using programming languages like R and/or Python
