Job Summary
The Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde (IOW) is seeking a dedicated Engineer in Chemistry/Environmental Chemistry to lead their nutrient analysis team. This role involves overseeing all analytical processes, from planning and coordination to execution, with a focus on monitoring the ecological state of the Baltic Sea. The successful candidate will manage analytical systems, procure necessary materials, and ensure compliance with quality management standards, including conducting accredited measurements and participating in international comparative studies. A key aspect of the role includes participating in multi-week research expeditions at sea, where the engineer will be responsible for onboard analytical technology, data evaluation, and database management. This position offers an opportunity to contribute significantly to marine environmental research within a supportive, interdisciplinary institute.
Required Skills
Education
University degree (Diploma, Master) in (Technical) Chemistry, Environmental, or Geosciences, or equivalent qualifications/experience, ideally with a focus on nutrient analysis.
Experience
- Professional experience in environmental analysis
- Familiarity with quality management requirements and accredited working methods
- Willingness to participate in multi-week expeditions in various sea areas
