Job Summary

The Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde (IOW) is seeking a Technical Specialist to join the Organic Trace Substances working group within the Marine Chemistry department. This role involves hands-on laboratory work, including the extraction and analysis of seawater and sediment samples using chromatographic-mass spectrometric techniques (GC-MSMS, LC-MSMS). The specialist will also be responsible for instrument maintenance, data preparation for reports and databases, and active participation in sea expeditions for sample collection and initial processing. Beyond technical tasks, the position includes general lab organization, creating work instructions, and acting as the safety officer for a lab section. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented professional with a background in chemical analysis to contribute to vital environmental monitoring and research, working in an accredited lab setting directly on the Baltic Sea.
