Job Summary

The Max Planck Institute for Brain Research in Frankfurt am Main is seeking a dedicated Technical Assistant or Engineer to join their Mass Spectrometry Lab, focusing on Proteomics and LC-MS. This role involves the crucial maintenance and operation of advanced mass spectrometers and HPLC systems, including calibration, quality control, and troubleshooting. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing routine samples, conducting data analysis for protein identification and quantification, and acquiring and evaluating LC-MS data for scientific projects. A key aspect of the role is the development of new preparation and LC-MS methods to support cutting-edge research. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Technical Assistant (CTA/BTA) or a university degree (Engineer/Master/Diploma) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a comparable field.

Experience

  • Professional experience as a Technical Assistant (CTA/BTA) or a university degree as an Engineer or Master/Diploma in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biophysics, or a comparable field
  • Experience with Mass Spectrometers and HPLC Systems (preferably Thermo and Bruker)
  • Experience with DIA and DDA methods, search algorithms, and statistics (advantageous)
  • Experience in a MS-Facility (advantageous)
  • Experience with Crosslinking-MS and Lipidomics (advantageous)
  • Experience with Liquid-Handling-Automation (advantageous)
