Job Summary

The Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) is seeking a Research Associate in Geoinformatics, Hydrography, or Geodesy to join their Nautical Hydrography department in Rostock. This role is crucial for the international "Baltic Sea e-nav" project, which aims to implement the next generation of electronic navigation charts (ENC) based on the IHO S-100 standard. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing tools to process 3D seabed data, extract information from the BSH hydrographic database, and convert it to the new S-102 data model. Key tasks include designing and implementing fully automated procedures for S-102 product delivery, developing interfaces for data transfer, and validating prototypes. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the digitalization of maritime navigation, enhancing safety and efficiency in the Baltic Sea.

Required Skills

Education

Master's degree, Diploma, or equivalent in Geoinformatics, Hydrography, or a comparable field, or recognized equivalent qualifications and experience.

Experience

  • Professional experience in Geoinformation, Hydrography, and Geodesy
  • Extensive experience with geodata processing methods
  • Strong programming skills in a high-level programming language
