Job Summary
The University Hospital Düsseldorf is seeking a highly motivated PhD candidate for a part-time (65%) position within the Institute of Pathology, starting September 1, 2025. This role is integral to a cutting-edge research project focused on advancing Ultrasound Localization Microscopy (ULM) for high-resolution imaging of microvascular anatomy in cervical lymph nodes. The primary goal is to enhance diagnostic capabilities for detecting metastases in head and neck tumors, thereby improving patient outcomes. The successful candidate will work at the intersection of medical technology, imaging, pathology, and clinical research, contributing to the development of innovative cancer diagnostics. Day-to-day activities will involve comparing ULM images with high-resolution 3D µCT scans and histological analyses, and identifying specific vascular patterns to differentiate between affected and unaffected lymph nodes. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to significant advancements in medical imaging and cancer diagnostics.
