Job Summary

This is a fixed-term, part-time (65% weekly hours) Scientific PhD position (Dr. rer. nat.) within the Clinic for Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Infectiology at the University Hospital Düsseldorf. The role is funded by the German Cancer Aid and focuses on investigating the pharmacological inhibition of energy metabolism as a therapeutic strategy against liver cancer. Day-to-day work involves conducting project-specific research, analyzing underlying molecular mechanisms, metabolic adaptations, and forms of induced cell death. The position is structured as a graduate program, offering valuable advanced training modules bridging basic life sciences and clinical research. Ideal candidates possess a completed Master's degree (or equivalent) in Biology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy, Molecular Medicine, or related fields, coupled with a strong motivation for experimental research in an international, competitive environment, and a keen interest in cellular oncology and metabolic regulation.
