Job Summary

Join the Finance Department of the Diocese of Aachen as an Accountant, responsible for comprehensive financial accounting according to commercial principles and legal requirements. Your day-to-day tasks will involve preparing annual financial statements under HGB for various entities, performing balance sheet consolidations, and ensuring data quality through oversight of upstream and downstream organizational units. You will also create reports for internal and external stakeholders, handle VAT pre-declarations and tax return preparations, and analyze/optimize workflows, particularly concerning organizational and technical changes impacting financial statements. The ideal candidate possesses a relevant commercial education with a completed qualification as a Certified Accountant or a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration/Taxation/Auditing, coupled with several years of relevant professional experience. Strong knowledge of German commercial and tax law, proficiency with financial software/ERP systems, and an analytical, independent, and structured work approach are essential. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Tax Assistant, a degree in Finance (Diplom-Finanzwirt), or a comparable commercial education with a completed further qualification as a Certified Accountant (Geprüfter Bilanzbuchhalter), or a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Taxation, or Tax and Auditing.

Experience

  • Several years of relevant professional experience as an Accountant (Financial and Corporate Accounting)
  • Professional experience in preparing annual financial statements under HGB
  • Professional experience in balance sheet consolidation
  • Professional experience in VAT declaration preparation and tax return preparation
  • Professional experience with financial software and/or ERP systems
