Job Summary

The Finance department for the Diocese of Aachen is seeking an Accountant to ensure comprehensive financial accounting according to commercial principles and ecclesiastical/secular laws. In this full-time, permanent role, you will be responsible for preparing annual financial statements under HGB for various client structures within the Diocese, performing balance sheet consolidations, and ensuring data quality through oversight of upstream and downstream organizational units. You will also create reports for internal and external stakeholders, prepare VAT returns and tax declarations, and analyze/optimize workflows, especially concerning organizational and technical changes impacting financial statements. The ideal candidate possesses a relevant commercial qualification with a specialization in accounting or a business/tax/auditing degree, coupled with several years of experience as an accountant, strong knowledge of German commercial and tax law, and proficiency with financial software or ERP systems.
