Job Summary
Join the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) in Berlin-Charlottenburg as an Engineer in the "Temperature" department. This role involves supporting third-party projects focused on optical temperature sensors, including integrated photonic circuits and fiber Bragg gratings. You will be responsible for setting up and automating measurement stations for the International Temperature Scale, conducting and evaluating measurements, and maintaining and developing software for data acquisition and analysis. The ideal candidate will have a background in physical technology, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, photonics, optical engineering, or mechatronics, with practical experience in optical and electrical measurement technology, and proficiency in LabVIEW and Python. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to world-leading metrology standards in a dynamic research environment.
Required Skills
Education
University of Applied Sciences Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Physical Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Optical Engineering, Mechatronics, or comparable field
Experience
- Professional experience in optical and electrical measurement technology
- Experience with optical fibers (ideally)
- Practical hardware and software knowledge in measurement data acquisition and device control
