Job Summary

This role involves cutting-edge research in precision metrology, specifically focusing on developing the metrological traceability chain for helix angle measurements on sealing counter-running surfaces of radial shaft seals. The successful candidate will integrate into the Coordinate Metrology department at the National Metrology Institute (PTB) in Braunschweig. Day-to-day tasks include mastering measurement and evaluation procedures for micro and macro helix angle measurements, conducting and analyzing these measurements using an optical coordinate measuring machine, and supporting the development of calibration methods, including uncertainty budgets. The position requires a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related engineering science, coupled with knowledge of manufacturing metrology and proficiency in MATLAB. This is an excellent opportunity to work on application-oriented top research, develop innovative calibration strategies, and contribute to national measurement standards within an interdisciplinary and international research environment.
