This role involves managing the technical operations of an oyster hatchery and restoration project in Bremerhaven, Germany, as part of the RESTORE initiative. You will oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of European oyster production, from conditioning broodstock and cultivating microalgae to larval rearing and nursery phases. Key responsibilities include designing and maintaining hatchery infrastructure, ensuring strict biosafety and water quality standards, and scaling production methods. The position requires a hands-on approach to troubleshooting technical systems, analyzing production data, and collaborating with research partners. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to significant marine conservation efforts in the North Sea within a leading federal research institute. Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree or FH-Diploma in Aquaculture, Marine Biology, Biology, Fisheries Science, Environmental Science, or a related field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in aquaculture systems and hatchery operations, specifically in marine environments.
  • Experience in the cultivation and handling of living aquatic organisms, including microorganisms.
  • Experience in planning, setting up, and executing scientific experiments.
  • Experience in the maintenance and monitoring of technical production infrastructure.
