Job Summary

This role involves working within the KRIKO-BE research project at the Berliner Hochschule für Technik (BHT) to develop scalable, AI-driven crisis communication systems. You will be responsible for implementing speech-to-text, LLM, and text-to-speech pipelines, integrating vector databases for RAG systems, and developing interfaces for VoIP and backend services. A significant portion of your day-to-day work will involve deploying and monitoring applications within Kubernetes clusters and conducting rigorous end-to-end testing for functionality, latency, and stability. This position is unique as it bridges academic research with practical software engineering, contributing to serious games and VR-based training scenarios for emergency organizations. You will collaborate closely with a network of Berlin-based universities to build robust, real-world solutions. The role requires a strong background in software engineering, specifically with Python and modern backend frameworks, and offers a stable, research-focused environment with opportunities for professional growth, flexible working hours, and a commitment to work-life balance.

Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Bachelor or Diplom FH) in Computer Science or a related field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in software development, including the design, integration, and evaluation of software components.
  • Practical experience with Large Language Model (LLM) systems, specifically Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and vector databases.
  • Experience in conducting end-to-end testing within containerized environments.
  • Experience in developing and integrating backend interfaces and external services.
