Job Summary
The Berlin University of Applied Sciences (BHT) is seeking a highly competent leader to serve as the Vice President for Administration and Finance (Kanzler/in) starting October 2026. In this executive role, you will be a member of the university's Presidential Board, leading the administration independently within the framework of presidential guidelines. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include overseeing human resources, budget management, and facility management, including construction and spatial planning. You will act as the university's Budget Officer, ensuring that all administrative processes are legally compliant, efficient, and service-oriented. This position is particularly attractive for experienced administrators who thrive in strategic decision-making and want to shape the future of a major technical university with over 12,000 students. The role is a fixed-term civil service appointment for six years, offering a prestigious platform to influence regional science and research infrastructure in the heart of Berlin.
Required Skills
Education
Eligibility for the second entry level of career group 2 in the non-technical administrative service (higher civil service) or equivalent qualifications according to Section 8, Paragraph 4, Sentence 1, No. 1 of the Career Act.
Experience
- At least 3 years of professional experience in the public service required to meet statutory eligibility
- Several years of relevant professional experience in science administration or a comparable administrative environment
- At least 3 years of leadership experience, preferably managing large organizational units
- Proven expertise in personnel, budgeting, or building management within a public-law context

Additional
- The position is a 6-year term as a temporary civil servant (Besoldungsgruppe B2). Candidates must be eligible for appointment by the Berlin Senate following election by the University Assembly. Location: Berlin, Germany.
