Job Summary

The Diocese of Aachen is seeking a dedicated Senior Accountant to join their finance department. In this full-time, permanent role, you will be responsible for preparing annual financial statements according to the German Commercial Code (HGB) for various entities within the diocese. Your day-to-day duties will include performing balance sheet consolidations, ensuring high data quality through process oversight, preparing tax returns, and generating financial reports for internal and external stakeholders. You will also play a key role in analyzing and optimizing financial workflows, particularly during organizational or technical changes. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Tax Clerk (Steuerfachangestellte:r), Diploma in Fiscal Administration (Diplom-Finanzwirt), or a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Tax, or Auditing. Must hold a certification as a Geprüfter Bilanzbuchhalter (Certified Accountant).

Experience

  • Several years of relevant professional experience as a Senior Accountant or Bilanzbuchhalter
  • Proven experience in preparing annual financial statements according to HGB
  • Experience in tax law and preparation of tax declarations
  • Experience in managing financial data quality and process optimization

  • Must identify with the tasks, goals, and values of the Catholic Church. C1 German proficiency required. Permanent residency or valid work permit for Germany is required.
