Job Summary

The Institute for Clinical Genetics and Genomic Medicine at the University Hospital Würzburg is seeking a PhD Candidate or Postdoctoral Researcher to join an interdisciplinary team focused on the 'Cancer Predisposition Syndrome (CPS) Compass' pilot project. This role is part of the EU-funded Joint Action on Personalized Cancer Medicine, involving 145 institutions across 29 countries. The successful candidate will contribute to evaluating the feasibility and cost-effectiveness of a 'genotype-first' approach to cancer predisposition diagnostics in pediatric and young adult populations, as well as identifying strategies to improve access to genetic counseling. Day-to-day responsibilities include designing studies, implementing research strategies, collecting and analyzing data, and preparing scientific publications and reports. Postdoctoral applicants will also lead project coordination and grant writing. This position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of clinical genetics, oncology, and implementation science within a supportive, international, and dynamic research environment.

Required Skills

Education

PhD Candidate: Master's degree (or equivalent) in Biomedicine, Public Health, Genetics, Genetic Counseling, or related field. Postdoctoral Researcher: Doctoral degree (PhD) required.

Experience

  • Professional experience in clinical genetics, personalized cancer medicine, or implementation research
  • Experience in independent and reliable interdisciplinary teamwork
  • For Postdoctoral applicants: Proven track record of peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations
  • For Postdoctoral applicants: Experience in preparing research grant applications
