Job Summary

This role is based at the State Office for Agriculture, Food Safety and Fisheries in Rostock, specifically within the Department of Plant Protection Products and Organic Contaminants. As a Laboratory Engineer, you will be primarily responsible for method development in sample preparation, focusing on the automation of processes and the adaptation of published analytical methods. Your daily tasks include performing quality control, troubleshooting analytical issues, and preparing samples for LC-MSMS measurements. You will also be responsible for the maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment. This position is particularly unique as it offers the possibility to use research results for a Master's thesis. It is a fixed-term appointment from July 2026 to December 2026, offering flexible working hours and a professional environment dedicated to food safety and residue analysis.

Required Skills

Education

Bachelor's degree or Diploma (FH) in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering.

Experience

  • Professional experience in instrumental analytics of food products is desirable
  • Experience in the independent development and validation of analytical methods
  • Proven experience in handling standard laboratory equipment
  • Experience in quality control and troubleshooting within a laboratory setting
