Job Summary

This role involves working within the Serology, Virology, and PCR department at the State Office for Agriculture, Food Safety, and Fisheries in Rostock. The successful candidate will perform molecular biological examinations on animal materials, food, and seed samples using advanced techniques such as PCR, real-time PCR, digital PCR, and DNA sequence analysis. Day-to-day responsibilities include evaluating molecular biological results, recording data in the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), and assisting in the establishment of new testing procedures. Additionally, you will be responsible for instructing trainees and interns. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Laboratory Technician (Laborant), Technical Assistant, or a comparable professional degree.

Experience

  • At least 1 year of professional experience in a molecular biology laboratory, specifically with PCR procedures
  • Practical experience in laboratory environments
  • Experience in using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS)
  • Experience with standard MS Office applications
  • Experience in instructing or supervising trainees and interns is preferred

Additional

  • Must not have had a previous employment relationship with the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (due to Part-Time and Fixed-Term Employment Act). Requires participation in weekend shifts and on-call duties. Submission of a federal certificate of conduct (Führungszeugnis) is required upon hiring. Position is fixed-term until December 31, 2027.
