Job Summary
As a Research Associate at Fraunhofer IPMS, you will drive the development of innovative control and drive solutions for semiconductor and MEMS components. Your day-to-day work involves conceptualizing and implementing FPGA designs, including simulation, verification, and timing analysis for microdisplays and sensor systems. You will develop advanced control algorithms for MEMS mirrors using microcontrollers and FPGAs, while also creating comprehensive system concepts that bridge hardware, optics, and software. Beyond technical execution, you will play a key role in the research lifecycle by acquiring funding, managing projects, and publishing scientific findings at international conferences. This position is ideal for those who enjoy interdisciplinary collaboration and wish to mentor students and doctoral candidates. Required Skills
Education
Master's degree or Diploma in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Engineering, Microsystems Technology, Physical Engineering, or a comparable scientific field of study.
Experience
- Professional experience in FPGA design, including IO-Constraints and Static Timing Analysis
- Practical experience with microcontrollers and embedded systems development
- Proven experience in software development using Python and C/C++
- Experience in control engineering fundamentals and algorithm implementation
- Experience in scientific research, including publication and conference participation
- Experience in project planning and acquisition of research funding
Languages
Additional
- The position is initially limited to 2 years with a long-term perspective. Proficiency in German and English must be at least B2 level. Candidates must be willing to mentor students and doctoral candidates.
