Job Summary

As a Research Associate at the Fraunhofer Research Institution for Battery Cell Production FFB, you will play a pivotal role in the 'Digitalization of Battery Cell Production' department. Your daily responsibilities include identifying and designing data-driven use cases across the entire battery value chain, from raw materials to finished cells. You will develop and deploy machine learning and AI models, build data preprocessing pipelines for heterogeneous production data, and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to optimize manufacturing processes. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or Diploma in Engineering, (Business) Informatics, a STEM subject, or a comparable field of study.

Experience

  • Initial practical experience in the field of Data Science, ideally related to battery cell production.
  • Professional experience implementing data-driven use cases using standard programming languages and ML libraries.
  • Experience handling database management systems including SQL, NoSQL, and OLAP/OLTP systems.
  • Professional experience or strong interest in digital production and IT infrastructure (MES, IIoT).
  • Experience in the acquisition and coordination of national and international research projects.

Additional

  • The position is initially limited to 2 years with the possibility of extension. Candidates must be able to work in a 39-hour week (full-time) or part-time equivalent. Work is based on the TVöD Bund collective agreement.
