Job Summary
This role at the State Forestry Competence Center Eberswalde (LFE) focuses on designing and developing an integrated forest protection database management system. As part of the NEWsWM project, you will be responsible for creating interfaces for nationwide forest protection reporting and integrating various IT forestry procedures. Day-to-day tasks include qualitative analysis of current IT systems, developing concepts for new modules, and performing scientific data analysis. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys combining technical programming skills with environmental science. Required Skills
Education
University degree (Bachelor, Master, or Diploma) in Computer Science, Applied Computer Science, Geoinformatics, Environmental Informatics, or related natural science fields (e.g., Forest Sciences, Forest Management, Geoecology). A PhD is considered an advantage.
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of professional experience in programming, computer science, or complex data analysis
- Professional experience handling environmental or ecosystem data
- Experience in temporary research projects within forest ecology, forest protection, or related forest research fields
- Proven track record of at least three peer-reviewed technical articles in English or German
- Experience in database environments and GIS tools preferred

- Valid Class B driver's license and willingness to drive for business purposes; readiness for multi-day business trips; fixed-term contract until December 31, 2028; location in Eberswalde.
