Job Summary
This permanent, full-time role at the Brandenburg State Forest Enterprise (LFB) in Eberswalde involves monitoring and researching the effects of pollutants on forest ecosystems. As a Scientific Researcher, you will manage monitoring networks (Level-II program), analyze environmental data using open-source technologies, and model forest nutrient cycles, water balances, and carbon sequestration. You will play a key role in national and international expert groups, such as ICP-Forests, and translate complex data into reports and publications that influence forest and environmental policy at state, federal, and EU levels. The position offers a secure public service contract with flexible working hours, mobile work options, and a collaborative environment focused on sustainability and forest conservation. Required Skills
Education
Master of Science or University Diploma in Forest Sciences, Geoinformatics, Environmental Informatics, Geography, Biology, Ecology, or a related field. A PhD in a relevant natural science field is preferred.
Experience
- Professional experience in forest or environmental monitoring and forest ecosystem research
- Proven track record of scientific publications in relevant fields
- Extensive experience with database management systems and GIS software
- Experience in modeling forest substance cycles and carbon storage
- Experience in managing third-party funded projects and international expert groups
- Experience with agile development and version control systems is preferred
