Job Summary

As an Electrical Engineering Technician at the University of Bremen's Institute for Electrical Drives, Power Electronics and Components (IALB), you will play a vital role in the design, assembly, and commissioning of advanced drive systems and power semiconductor testing systems. Your daily responsibilities will range from building analog and digital circuits (PCBs) and control cabinets to maintaining motor test benches and high-voltage equipment in the kilovolt range. You will also take on administrative and safety duties, such as conducting safety briefings and managing laboratory orders. Required Skills

Education

State-certified Technician (Staatlich geprüfter Techniker) specializing in Energy Technology and Power Electronics, or a Master Craftsman (Meister) certificate in Electrical Engineering.

Experience

  • Professional experience in electrical engineering, specifically in power electronics or drive technology
  • Experience in the commissioning of electromechanical drive systems and motor test benches
  • Practical experience in industrial installation and the construction of control cabinets
  • Experience with VDE regulations and safety protocols for high-voltage systems
  • Experience in maintaining technical documentation and laboratory logs

Additional

  • Must be willing to take on roles as a Safety Instructor, Fire Safety Assistant, and Hazardous Materials Handler. Work is primarily on-site in Bremen due to data security requirements.
