This role involves the technical management and implementation of hydrographic projects within the Elbe-North Sea Waterways and Shipping Office. Based in Hamburg or Cuxhaven, the successful candidate will focus on optimizing daily sounding operations through modern surveying and data analysis methods. Key responsibilities include procuring replacement surveying systems for vessels, piloting new measurement methods, and conducting 'Dune Tracking' to analyze underwater dunes for efficient dredging planning. You will also support sediment management tasks and test innovative digital measurement tools (Smart-BWaStr). This 8-year fixed-term position offers a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of maritime traffic management, ecology, and modern technology. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Diplom-Ingenieur or Master) in Geodesy, Surveying Engineering, Geoinformatics, or a comparable field recognized under German law.

Experience

  • Professional experience in hydrographic data acquisition and processing
  • Experience in the planning and development of waterway surveying projects
  • Experience with echo sounding and sonar technical systems
  • Experience in technical project management and implementation
  • Experience with public procurement processes and regulations

Additional

  • Valid Class B driver's license and willingness to drive service vehicles for business trips is required. The position is fixed-term for 8 years. Applicants with foreign degrees must provide proof of equivalence via ZAB or ANABIN.
