Job Summary
As a Technical Officer for Emission Control at the Hannover Region administration, you will play a vital role in environmental protection and public health. Your daily responsibilities involve processing technical matters in notification and permit procedures according to the Federal Emission Control Act (BImSchG). You will focus on facilities such as wind turbines, livestock farms, and large-scale shooting ranges. A significant part of the role includes reviewing and evaluating expert reports on noise, odor, ammonia, and other pollutant emissions, as well as performing your own dispersion calculations. You will also conduct monitoring tasks and provide technical statements for urban planning and building permit procedures. Required Skills
Education
University degree (Bachelor/Diploma) in Environmental Technology, Environmental Engineering, or a comparable field of study.
Experience
- Many years of professional experience required, ideally in plant-related emission control
- Extensive knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and technical rules (specifically BImSchG)
- Experience in evaluating technical expert reports and conducting dispersion calculations
- Experience in administrative or regulatory approval processes
Languages
Additional
- Valid Class B (car) driver's license required. Must be willing to work flexible hours including occasional nights and weekends for field service. Physical fitness is required as the role involves accessing difficult, unpaved terrain on foot. German work permit required for public sector employment.
