Job Summary

The City of Ratingen is seeking a dedicated professional to lead the Department of Social Services, Disability Coordination, Housing Assistance, and Housing Benefit. In this role, you will manage a team of approximately 30 employees and oversee critical social welfare functions, including the administration of SGB XII, the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act, and housing grants. Your daily responsibilities will involve making decisions on complex benefit cases, coordinating disability affairs, and managing the strategic direction of housing for homeless individuals and refugees. You will act as a key liaison for social organizations, negotiate with cooperation partners, and manage the office for war graves commission. Required Skills

Education

Qualification for the Career Group 2, First Entry Level (formerly elevated non-technical service) or an equivalent qualification such as the Employee Training Course II (Angestelltenlehrgang II).

Experience

  • 2 years of leadership experience as a head of unit, department head, or equivalent leadership role
  • 3 years of professional experience in roles assigned to salary grade EG 9b / A 9 or higher within the public sector
  • Experience in handling complex legal cases related to social welfare and housing benefits
  • Proven experience in cooperating with social work organizations and associations
