Job Summary
This role within the Dortmund City Drainage Department (Stadtentwässerung Dortmund) involves serving as a Water Protection Officer, where you will act as a key advisor on all matters regarding water conservation and regulatory compliance. Day-to-day, you will monitor adherence to environmental regulations, secure evidence for damage claims, and manage the quality of city water bodies and wastewater. A significant portion of the role includes managing external laboratory contracts, preparing technical reports, and presenting analytical data to authorities. Required Skills
Education
University degree (Bachelor of Science or Diploma Engineer) in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Chemical Biology, Biology, or a comparable field.
Experience
- Professional experience as a qualified Water Protection Officer
- Extensive knowledge of relevant legal frameworks including WHG, AbwV, and WRRL
- Experience in analytical procedures for water and sludge testing
- Proven experience in negotiating with authorities and interdisciplinary teams
- Experience in drafting tender documents and managing external laboratory services
Languages
Additional
- Must hold a valid Class B driver's license. Physical fitness required for entering and exiting the public sewer system (to be verified during the selection process). Must have completed training as a Water Protection Officer (Gewässerschutzbeauftragte Person).
