Job Summary

This role within the Dortmund City Drainage Department (Stadtentwässerung Dortmund) involves serving as a Water Protection Officer, where you will act as a key advisor on all matters regarding water conservation and regulatory compliance. Day-to-day, you will monitor adherence to environmental regulations, secure evidence for damage claims, and manage the quality of city water bodies and wastewater. A significant portion of the role includes managing external laboratory contracts, preparing technical reports, and presenting analytical data to authorities. Required Skills

Education

Experience

  • Professional experience as a qualified Water Protection Officer
  • Extensive knowledge of relevant legal frameworks including WHG, AbwV, and WRRL
  • Experience in analytical procedures for water and sludge testing
  • Proven experience in negotiating with authorities and interdisciplinary teams
  • Experience in drafting tender documents and managing external laboratory services

Additional

  • Must hold a valid Class B driver's license. Physical fitness required for entering and exiting the public sewer system (to be verified during the selection process). Must have completed training as a Water Protection Officer (Gewässerschutzbeauftragte Person).
