Job Summary

This critical role within the Dortmund System House is focused on the administration, operation, and strategic centralization of the IT infrastructure across Dortmund's schools, supporting approximately 100,000 IT workstations. The administrator will manage over 200 central and decentralized iServ school server instances, which are vital for enabling modern digital teaching and effective device/user management. Key daily responsibilities include coordinating the centralization project, serving as the product owner for Microsoft Office across secondary and vocational schools, and providing essential Second- and Third-Level support for complex IT environments. Candidates must possess comprehensive expertise in complex IT infrastructure administration, particularly with Linux server systems and modern server virtualization concepts. Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Bachelor or FH Diploma) in Informatics, Media Informatics, Business Informatics, Administrative Informatics, Applied Informatics, Physics, Mathematics, or another IT-focused degree; OR completed relevant vocational training in Informatics (e.g., IT Specialist, IT System Electronics Technician); OR completed commercial vocational training with an IT focus combined with corresponding abilities and comprehensive knowledge.

Experience

  • Professional experience in the administration of complex IT infrastructures
  • Experience in providing Second- and Third-Level support for IT environments
  • Willingness to take responsibility and make decisions regarding system-critical measures
  • Willingness to take on practical instruction/mentoring (desirable)
