Job Summary

This role is based within the Department of Cell Toxicology at the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Leipzig. As a Laboratory Technician, you will be responsible for the cultivation of eukaryotic cell lines, including genetically modified organisms, under sterile S1 conditions. Your daily activities will involve performing cell-based assays such as viability and reporter protein tests, following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). You will manage the operation and maintenance of specialized laboratory equipment, including CO2 incubators, cell dispensers, and plate readers, while ensuring meticulous documentation in both physical and electronic systems. Required Skills

Education

Qualified Biology Laboratory Technician, BTA (Biological Technical Assistant), MTA (Medical Technical Assistant), CTA (Chemical Technical Assistant), VMTA, or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in cell culture and sterile laboratory techniques
  • Routine experience in performing standardized in-vitro bioassay procedures
  • Experience in the operation of laboratory equipment such as CO2 incubators, plate readers, and microscopes
  • Experience in quality-assured working methods and laboratory documentation
