Job Summary

As a Technical Laboratory Assistant in the Field of Organic Analytics, you will join the Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Research (UFZ) in Leipzig to support critical environmental monitoring projects. Your day-to-day responsibilities involve the independent planning and execution of chemical analyses, specifically focusing on GC-MS and Ion Mobility Spectrometry. You will be responsible for calibrating equipment, preparing calibration solutions, and meticulously documenting measurement results. Beyond laboratory work, you will maintain analytical instruments, ensure occupational safety standards, and participate in field measurement campaigns outside the main facility. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a State-Certified Technician (e.g., specializing in Chemical Engineering or Environmental Protection Technology) or a comparable laboratory-based vocational qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in laboratory technology or chemical analysis
  • Practical experience in the operation and maintenance of GC-MS analytical equipment
  • Experience in preparing calibration solutions and documenting scientific measurement results
  • Experience in organizing laboratory workflows and implementing occupational safety protocols
  • Experience in providing technical guidance to students or guest researchers
