Job Summary
As a DevSecOps Engineer for the Open Defense Cloud Stack, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the digital future of the German Federal Armed Forces (Bundeswehr). Operating within the Cloud Operation Hub, you will be responsible for the technical foundation of digital sovereignty, automation, and resilience. Your daily tasks involve steering cloud stacks, interacting with Product Owners to evolve cloud products, and taking operational leadership of the stack during critical situations. You will manage the operation of microservices, ensure SLA compliance, and automate security checks and standard changes. This role is unique as it offers the chance to work on one of Germany's largest and most complex IT infrastructures, contributing directly to national security. The position combines technical execution with strategic planning and leadership, making it an ideal fit for experienced engineers looking to drive innovation in a mission-critical environment while enjoying benefits like mobile working and comprehensive pension plans.
Required Skills
Education
University degree in Computer Science or a related field, or a completed vocational training with equivalent professional experience.
Experience
- Several years of professional leadership experience in a technical environment
- Extensive experience in the deployment, operation, and utilization of Kubernetes clusters
- Proven track record in agile projects and management methods including relevant tooling
- Professional experience in customer interaction and stakeholder management
- Experience as a certified trainer (Ausbilderschein) or equivalent instructional experience
- Experience in operational management of microservices and cloud stacks
Languages
Additional
- Must possess or be eligible for an instructor's license (Ausbilderschein). Requires the ability to work in a high-security defense environment. Location flexible across multiple German cities including Idar-Oberstein, Berlin, Bonn, and Munich.
