Job Summary

As a Senior System Engineer specializing in Active Directory, you will play a critical role in securing and modernizing the IT infrastructure for the German Federal Armed Forces (Bundeswehr). Working within the Identity and Access Management (IAM) department, your daily responsibilities include the administration and operation of complex Active Directory environments, as well as managing infrastructure services such as DNS, Federation Services (ADFS), and Distributed Filesystems. You will handle second and third-level support tasks, working independently to resolve complex technical issues, sometimes in collaboration with Microsoft. This role is essential for ensuring stable, efficient IT services across one of Germany's largest and most complex infrastructures. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training in the IT field (e.g., Fachinformatiker) or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience in Active Directory administration and system engineering
  • Proven experience managing large-scale IT infrastructures and solving complex technical problems
  • Experience in monitoring and maintaining server systems and operational optimization
  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation processes is preferred

Additional

  • Participation in on-call rotations (Rufbereitschaft) is required. The role is primarily based in Munich or Rheinbach, but nationwide placement at BWI locations is possible.
