This full-time, permanent position involves managing the payroll operations for approximately 6,500 employees within the Diocese of Speyer. As a Payroll Specialist, you will independently handle the end-to-end payroll process for a defined group of employees, ensuring full compliance with tax and social security regulations. Your daily responsibilities include maintaining personnel master data, performing digital payment controls (DEKO), and calculating sick pay. You will serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding payroll queries and manage all formal communications and reporting to social security agencies and tax authorities. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who enjoys working with numbers and structured processes. Required Skills

Education

Completed commercial vocational training (e.g., Social Security Specialist, Tax Assistant, or Office Management) ideally supplemented by further training in Payroll.

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience in payroll accounting and administration
  • Proven experience in handling wage tax and social security legal requirements
  • Experience in communicating with health insurance providers and social security agencies
  • Professional background in a commercial or administrative environment
