As a Payroll Specialist for the Central Payroll Office of the Diocese of Speyer, you will be responsible for the end-to-end payroll processing for a defined group of approximately 6,500 employees. Your daily activities will include maintaining personnel master data, calculating sick pay, and ensuring compliance with tax and social security regulations. You will serve as the primary point of contact for employees and managers regarding all payroll-related inquiries and handle digital compensation control (DEKO). A significant part of the role involves professional communication and reporting to external authorities, such as health insurance providers and social security agencies. Required Skills

Education

Completed commercial vocational training (e.g., Social Security Specialist, Tax Assistant, or Office Management) ideally with further certification/specialization in Payroll.

Experience

  • Several years of professional experience in payroll accounting and processing
  • Practical experience in communicating with social security agencies and tax authorities
  • Experience in applying collective bargaining agreements, ideally TVöD-VKA
  • Proven track record of working with sensitive personnel data and maintaining confidentiality
