This role is based at the Institute for Safety and Quality in Cereal at the Max Rubner-Institut in Detmold. As a Chemical Technical Assistant, you will contribute to the 'KaProBast' research project, which focuses on enhancing the nutritional value of potato products using sustainable fibers. Your daily responsibilities will involve a blend of food technology and analytical chemistry, including practical work in extraction plants and the performance of instrumental analysis such as HPLC and GC-MS. You will be responsible for characterizing fiber-rich products, preparing sample series, and documenting results using specialized software. A unique aspect of this position is the opportunity to supervise and instruct international guest scientists and students in English. Required Skills

Education

Completed vocational training as a Chemical-Technical Assistant (CTA), Chemistry Laboratory Technician, or a comparable qualification.

Experience

  • Professional experience in general and instrumental chemical analysis
  • Experience in computer-aided evaluation and documentation of experimental results
  • Practical experience in food analytics, specifically regarding carbohydrates and contaminants like acrylamide
  • Experience in the commissioning, operation, and maintenance of high-quality analytical equipment (GC, HPLC)
  • Experience in providing technical instruction or supervision to students or guest researchers
