Job Summary
This role involves providing technical expertise and oversight for nature conservation projects within the Tübingen Regional Council. Day-to-day, the successful candidate will provide professional guidance on intervention projects, draft technical statements for large-scale infrastructure plans, and conduct Natura 2000 compatibility assessments. A significant portion of the role focuses on the management of protected areas, including monitoring and evaluating maintenance measures. You will also engage in public relations work, such as drafting press releases and organizing information events. The position is ideal for environmental professionals who enjoy a mix of office-based strategic planning and physical field work in challenging terrain. It offers the stability of the public service sector (TV-L E13) with flexible working models and a strong focus on work-life balance. Required Skills
Education
University degree (Master or Diploma) in Biology, Natural Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or a related field with a focus on Nature Conservation or Landscape Ecology.
Experience
- Professional experience in nature conservation and landscape ecology, particularly if the academic focus was in another field
- Experience in applying field ecological methods for vegetation and faunistic surveys
- Experience in data evaluation and interpretation of ecological findings
- Experience in implementing biotope and species protection measures including funding programs is preferred
- Experience in public administration and knowledge of nature conservation laws is preferred
- Familiarity with the natural regions and protected areas of the Tübingen district is an advantage

- Valid Class B driver's license required. Ability and willingness to perform field work in difficult terrain and under physical exertion. Availability for occasional evening appointments. Work permit for Germany required. Fixed-term contract until September 30, 2027.
