Job Summary

This role involves driving digitalization within the M4-SKI research project at the Institute for Information Systems (iisys). As a Research Associate, you will focus on developing intuitive human-machine interfaces by combining speech with other modalities like images. Your daily responsibilities include selecting, designing, and implementing machine learning methods with a specific focus on Large Language Models (LLMs). You will optimize AI models for resource efficiency, build demonstrators for various application domains, and contribute to the development of an 'AI as a Service' infrastructure. Additionally, you will engage in scientific writing and publishing. This position is particularly attractive as it offers the opportunity to pursue a cooperative doctorate (PhD) in synergy with project activities, provides flexible working hours with home office options, and operates within a flat-hierarchy team dedicated to cutting-edge topics like Big Data and Cloud Computing.

Required Skills

Education

Successfully completed university degree (Master's or equivalent) in Computer Science, Business Informatics, Media Informatics, or a similar field of study. Foreign degrees require a certificate evaluation from the Central Office for Foreign Education (ZAB).

Experience

  • Professional experience in computer science or a related field such as business informatics or media informatics
  • Experience in the selection, conception, and implementation of machine learning methods
  • Experience in developing and optimizing AI models for resource efficiency
  • Experience in scientific publication and independent writing of research papers
  • Prior knowledge of PyTorch is preferred but not mandatory

Additional

  • The position is full-time (40.06 hours/week) and fixed-term until February 28, 2027. Remuneration is according to the TV-L (up to E13) public service scale. Applicants with foreign degrees must provide ZAB documentation.
