Job Summary
This role offers a unique opportunity to join the German Emissions Trading Authority (DEHSt) within the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) to help implement the European Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM). As a Scientific Officer, you will be responsible for establishing enforcement procedures, supervising authorization processes, and monitoring reporting obligations for importers. Your day-to-day will involve interdisciplinary collaboration with customs, the European Commission, and other DEHSt units to ensure legal compliance and the development of enforcement strategies. Required Skills
Education
Completed university degree (Master's, University Diploma, or State Examination) in Natural Sciences, Economics, Law, Administrative Sciences, Engineering (e.g., Energy, Process, or Environmental Technology), or Political Science.
Experience
- Professional or practical experience in emissions trading, customs, or comparable regulatory enforcement is desirable.
- Experience in understanding legal, economic, and political contexts related to environmental policy.
- Proven ability to work effectively under deadline pressure and in team-oriented environments.
- Experience in negotiating and strategic concept development is preferred.
