Job Summary

This role involves the strategic and technical advancement of the 'Blue Angel' (Blauer Engel) ecolabel program. As a Scientific Officer, you will develop and revise award criteria for various product groups, with a specific focus on chemical requirements and environmental impact indicators such as indoor air emissions and recyclability. You will be responsible for bridging technical requirements with global sustainability goals, managing research projects, and representing the Federal Environment Agency (UBA) in stakeholder dialogues and expert hearings. The position is a maternity cover role, initially fixed-term with an expected extension until October 2027. Required Skills

Education

Master's degree or University Diploma in Natural Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Sciences, Sustainability Sciences, or a comparable field of study.

Experience

  • Professional experience in natural or engineering sciences, specifically within chemistry or environmental science
  • Experience in evaluating environmental properties of products and raw material sourcing
  • Proven experience in organizing and leading expert conferences or technical discussions
  • Experience in interdisciplinary teamwork and scientific networking
  • Preferred: Experience in product certification or environmental labeling
  • Preferred: Experience in substance assessment or construction product evaluation
