Job Summary

This permanent full-time position within the 'Microbiological Risks' department focuses on the molecular biological detection of human pathogenic water-associated infectious agents. As a Research Associate, you will be responsible for the scientific design and development of detection systems for complex environmental matrices such as cooling water, surface water, and wastewater. Your daily work involves experimental method establishment, sample preparation, genetic engineering, and bioinformatic sequence verification. Beyond laboratory work, you will lead scientific projects, manage third-party funding, and oversee quality management tasks. This role is particularly attractive for scientists seeking the stability of the public sector combined with high-impact work in environmental health protection. Required Skills

Education

Completed university degree (Master's, University Diploma, or State Examination) in Microbiology, Human Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, or a related field, preferably with a focus on Molecular Life Sciences.

Experience

  • Several years of experience leading work in Biosafety Level 2 (S2) laboratories
  • Proven expertise in handling human pathogenic infectious agents such as bacteria, viruses, and fungi
  • Extensive experience in the cultivation, detection, and typing of pathogens using molecular biological analysis
  • Proven experience in acquiring third-party scientific funding and project coordination
  • Demonstrated experience using specialized software for genome data assembly and analysis pipelines
