Job Summary

As a Materials Engineer or Physicist at Salzgitter Mannesmann Forschung GmbH, you will play a pivotal role in developing innovative steel materials and process technologies. Your daily responsibilities involve managing R&D projects from the laboratory phase through to industrial series production. You will work within interdisciplinary teams to analyze the relationships between process parameters and material properties, directly contributing to the SALCOS® project aimed at low-CO2 steelmaking. This role is unique for its focus on sustainable hydrogen metallurgy and the transformation of the steel industry. You will collaborate closely with production, technical customer advisory, and sales departments to implement sustainable material solutions. Required Skills

Education

University degree in Materials Science, Material Engineering, Metallurgy, Metal Physics, or a comparable field. A PhD (Doctorate) is considered an advantage.

Experience

  • Professional experience in the development of steel materials and process technologies
  • Experience in managing development projects from laboratory phase to industrial scale
  • Experience working in interdisciplinary teams across production, sales, and customer advisory
  • Initial experience in programming and data analysis for material optimization
