Job Summary

This role is for an innovative Materials Engineer or Physicist focused on developing new steel materials and technologies, supporting the Salzgitter Group's transition to low-CO2 steelmaking through the SALCOS® project. The professional will independently lead development projects from the laboratory phase through to industrial series production, working within interdisciplinary teams across production, sales, and technical customer consulting. Key responsibilities include analyzing relationships between process parameters and material-specific properties for optimization, and designing sustainable material solutions crucial for future hydrogen metallurgy. Candidates must hold a relevant degree (Materials Science, Metallurgy, Physics) and possess strong communication skills, creativity, and initial experience in programming and data analysis.

Required Skills

Education

University degree in Materials Engineering, Materials Science, Metallurgy, Metallurgical Physics, or comparable field. Doctorate (PhD) is advantageous.

Experience

  • Independent management of development projects
  • Experience translating laboratory developments to industrial series production
  • Professional experience working in interdisciplinary teams (Production, Sales, Customer Consulting)
  • Initial knowledge in programming and data analysis
