Job Summary
As the Head of Financial Accounting for the City of Worms, you will lead a team of 10 employees and oversee the municipality's cash management and financial operations. Your daily responsibilities include ensuring the city's liquidity, managing strategic credit planning for a portfolio exceeding 400 million Euros, and making fundamental policy decisions for the department. You will be responsible for the independent preparation of annual financial statements for accounts receivable and payable, while coordinating complex workflows involving approximately 500,000 annual bookings. This position is ideal for a professional with strong leadership skills and deep expertise in municipal finance. The role offers a permanent contract with the stability of the public sector (TVöD E12), flexible working hours, telecommuting options, and a comprehensive benefits package including health management and pension schemes.
Required Skills
Education
Bachelor of Arts in Administration, or completion of the third entry-level civil service career path in Administration and Finance, or completion of the Administrative Specialist Examination II (Angestelltenprüfung II), or a Diploma in Public Administration/Business Administration.
Experience
- Professional experience in municipal treasury and cash management
- Practical experience in liquidity planning and strategic loan management
- Experience in negotiating with banking institutions
- Demonstrated leadership experience managing a team of employees
- Experience in performing independent year-end closing activities

- Must be eligible for public service employment under TVöD E12. Internal candidates currently enrolled in the Administrative Specialist Examination II course may apply if they have completed 50% of the program.
