Job Summary

The GWDG is seeking a dedicated HPC Performance and Data Management Engineer to join the 'Computing' working group as part of the Digital Science Support Space Lower Saxony (DS3) project. In this role, you will be instrumental in building a science support team focused on sustainable research software development. Your day-to-day will involve advising scientists on developing HPC-capable software, providing performance analysis tools, and managing large-scale data workflows. You will also support the integration of AI tools into the software development lifecycle and conduct training sessions for researchers. This position is particularly attractive for those seeking a research-heavy environment, as it offers the opportunity to pursue a doctorate while working at the intersection of applied computer science, AI, and high-performance computing. Required Skills

Education

University degree (Master's or Bachelor's) in Computer Science or a related field.

Experience

  • Professional experience in parallelization using MPI and OpenMP
  • Extensive experience using performance analysis tools on HPC systems
  • Professional experience with Linux environments including Bash scripting and containerization
  • Experience in developing research software and managing large data sets
  • Experience in customer-oriented technical support or service roles is desirable
